The Zero Trick
My wife was complaining that our DVR (digital recording device) for our cable television was screwed up.
The remote control was non responsive to her commands.
Therefore, she was unable to record her favorite shows.
So on Friday, I drove down to the Time Warner cable service center on Claremont Drive to trade out the equipment.
There’s a service center next to the Coffee and Tea shop directly across from the Traffic School before the runners shack where I used to run down by the bay.
By the way, I stopped running nine weeks ago and have replaced running with a new exercise system that includes all walking combined with someting else.
It’s proving out to be very effective in keeping the pounds off and my workouts are perceived to be so much easier than before.
Plus, I’ve eliminate all the pounding on my knees too.
Anyway, I get back home with the new DVR equipment and I plug her in.
And it’s not working.
So a frustrated Shelley has to call Time Warner by phone to see what’s going on.
Generally, their customer service is good but she’s on hold for 20 minutes.
Then the call drops and Shelley gets disconnected.
I’m in the other room and I yell out . . .
“Sweetheart, do the zero trick.”
“What’s the zero trick?” she asks.
And I share this time saving trick with my bride.
If you ever have to call any customer service phone number like your power company, phone company, cable TV company, any credit card customer service or bank you can end up lost in a maze of voice recorded menus.
The next time this occurs, just press the zero on you phone repeatedly.
Pressing it once will not do the trick.
You’ve got to keep pressing it over and over.
I belive on most phone systems you’ll be routed to an operator faster than if you followed all the other commands.
So Shelley does the zero trick.
And before she knew it, she was back watching her favorite cable shows.
Next time you get stuck on hold . . .
Hang up the phone and call back and do the “The Zero Trick.”
