The Wave – A Short Story About Marketing . . .

By senoff.michael@gmail.com On August 24, 2016 No Comments

Last Saturday night, my son and I were invited to a San Diego Chargers football game.

Four other boys and dads were there from the summer rec league basketball team.

And so all the dads are watching the game.

And the kids are antsy and can’t sit still and they decide they want to start a wave in the seventy thousand fan stadium.

I remember doing the wave at Alabama games from my college football days.

You know what it is, right?

It’s where a section of the fans in the stands suddenly stand, raise their hands to the sky and then sit down.

And the section next to you does the same and on and on down and around to create an ocean like wave of fans that would ripple all around the stadium.

How cool is that.

So my son and his friends decided to go down the stairs to the front of section 18 to start this wave.

The Chargers are up against the Arizona Cardinals by 10.

Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever tried this?

But it’s not an easy task.

I watched the boys strategize and puzzle over exactly what their plan of attack was going to be.

All the Dad’s were watching to see if they could pull it off too.

Can you imagine the feeling of a 13 year old kid getting a stadium full of fans to do what they want them to do?

Pure Power.

They take action.

I can see them running side to side waving their hands up trying to get the fans to do the wave.

And nothing happens.

Other than a few hand go up in the air.

Defeated, the boys come back to their seats to blame each other for their failure.

Then, they get a second wind.

They are NOT going to give up.

Back down again to try one more time.

And with more vigor and piss than before, they in unison raise and lower they arms to simulate and direct fans to start a wave.

But this time a response.

” Get out the way kids, we’re trying to watch the game”

The boys come back accepting their defeat and scratching their little heads wondering what went wrong.

You ever feel like this with your marketing?

If so reply back I’ll explain how to overcome this problem of gaining your fans attention and getting them to do exactly what you want.

This has nothing to do with headlines, Joint Venture marketing or copywriting.

This is much more important.

And when you get this right, you’ll be waving to your Mama on the way to the bank with your customers big fat checks all season long.

Pheasant Burritos Don’t Pay The Bills . . .

By senoff.michael@gmail.com On November 20, 2015 No Comments

How to write a rambling email.

Lets get started.

After I dropped my son off at a friend’s home in La Jolla, I had to go to Costco to pick up some but whipes and a case of Nai Antioxidant Infusion drinks.

Each 18 ounce drink has only 10 calories and they taste Greaaaaat.

They also take the edge off on Hungry when you want to gorge out on Pita Chips and Pasta.

So if you’re ever hungry for something you don’t want to eat, I suggest you high tail it down to Costco to grab you some while they’re still on sale.

Anyway, I called my buddy from the parking lot while waiting for a parking space to see if he was going to be slumming free samples on the runway.

He was not.

He was dog walking his two dogs and a new dog named Marcus at Fiesta Island.

The owner of the new dog had gone on a hunting trip.

I asked him if he’s going to be making 100 bucks per day for dog sitting Marcus.

And he says . . .

“I don’t know, we’ll see what happens”.

I asked him, “who dictate your price, you or him?”

He told me the owner of the dog may be bringing him back some pheasant burritos.

I laughed and replied with the classic headline of this email . . .

Pheasant Burritos Don’t Pay The Bills . . .

And the lesson here is . . .

YOU are the boss!

If you’re selling something, don’t let the customer dictate your price.

You tell them what to pay.

It all comes down to confidence.

Now, since you’re still reading, I want to make you so berry happeeee.

Yesterday, I interviewed a heavy hitter kind of guy.

His name is Brian Kurtz.

He was the list manager for Boardroom, Inc for over 30 years.

Boardroom is an American newsletter publishing company.

It was founded in 1972 by Martin Edelston, who served as the company’s chairman until his death on Oct 2 2013.

Brian and Marty Edeltston built Boardroom from 3 million to over $200 million in sales.

Brian met all the top dogs in the newsletter publishing business.

He was the link to the greatest copywriters that ever walked the planet.

Including Gary Bencivenga, the late Jim Rutz, Eugene Schwartz, Bill Jamie and Gary Halbert.

So if you want to hear what we wrapped about yesterday, reply to this email.

I think you gonna like it a long long time.

It’s 90 minutes of marketing gold.

What you get in return will be far greater than the energy and effort you take to reply to this email.

PS. I’m only sending you a link to the unedited play audio.

Also, you’ll get a good glimpse into some of the pre-call banter that goes on before a call like this.

Senoff’s Friday Fat Boy Report . . .

By senoff.michael@gmail.com On May 8, 2015 No Comments

Senoff’s Friday Fat Boy Report . . .

Here’s the thing.

I don’t smoke,

I barely drink,

And don’t do drugs

But dangs,

I loves to eats.

So since I got back from my Mexican Cabo siesta, I’ve been putting on pounds of ugly fat around my belly, face and buttocks.

And it’s time to get back on the hands.

My Weighted Hands workout that is.

To melts the fat away.

It’s the fastest way I’ve found without starving myself and beating the crap out of my body.

And it feels easy.

Anyway, that is a whole nother email.

More at www.WeightedHands.com

So today, my Weighted Hands workout went ok.

Why?

Because I listened to an older interview I had long forgotten about.

It was 10 years ago that I interviewed a 27 Year Old Philadelphia “Boy Wonder” Who Made $100,000 With One E-mail Mailed To Local Chamber Chapter.

Here’s what it’s all about . . .

Alex Whiting, a highly successful marketing consultant kept coming across my site and decided we should talk.

As I interview Alex, he explained how he developed his marketing skills as a consultant to earn a minimum of $1,000 an hour.

Listen how one free e-mail produced $100,000 in consulting fees with a local Chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of this interview is to share Alex Whittling’s high-powered marketing consulting advice for prospecting, qualifying, marketing, getting referrals, pricing, and closing clients.

This will help you be a successful consultant and enable you to avoid typical mistakes as you work to increase your business.

During this fire side chat, you’ll learn about . . .

* Alex’s background and how he got started

* Benefits of understanding how people react and what they need to hear before they are ready to buy

* How “liking to help people” and “building trust” are critical to being a good consultant

* Importance of continuous learning and making improvements in marketing techniques

* Marketing mistakes to avoid

* Three tips for providing uber value

* How to step out of the box and do marketing differently

* Tips for lead generation, qualifying potential clients.

* The best ways to enter into a consulting situation

* How to Set monthly service fees and retainers agreements for obtaining a percentage of increased business.

Alex say’s one of his clients failed.

He said the big mistake is one that most marketers have when they go into a particular niche and it’s they forget to continue learning.

They assume that everything’s the same under every buying situation.

Anyway, it’s a great interview.

I’ll send over the mp3 download link with the pdf transcripts now.

All you gots to do is contact me by email.

PMS. Hurry however, I’m hungry after my workout!

I need to eats.
