Choose the leather . . .

I have this thing lately that I have been doing with my 10 year old before bed.

I tell him that I am not going to let him go to sleep until I make him laugh.

Now, I don’t want some little smile or a chuckle.

I want a belly laugh.

I really want to try and crack him up.

And sometimes it’s not that easy do to.

I have to act like a real idiot to get him going.

So last night Joe was talking about one of his little action figure toys named Naga.

Naga is a evil Bakugan ( Top Selling kids Toy of 2009 ) that wants to take over earth and Vestroya.

Vestroya is the planet that all Bakugan live on.

Anyway, I didn’t know much about this planet thingy and all I could think about was the word Naugahyde.

And it came out.

I said.

Naaaaaaaauuugahyyyde.

And I got him going.

And I said it again . . .

louder this time with a southern accent.

Naaaaaaaaaugaaaahyyyyyde . . .

And he cracked up again.

Naaaaaaaaaugaaaahyyyyyde

Naaaaaaaaaugaaaahyyyyyde

Naaaaaaaaaugaaaahyyyyyde

Funny sounding word, ha?

After he stopped laughing, he asked what is Naugahyde?

And I told him it’s a cheap imitation leather.

I said ” Joe , when you get older and when you work, you’ll have your chance to buy your own couch or recliner or sports car.

You’ll have a choice to buy either real genuine soft as butter leather or you’ll have to settle for Naugahyde.

I explained the one main thing other then being an animal rights activist that will determine that decision is how much money you have to spend.

And so, I said “I hope you’ll choose the leather.”

This little story makes me think of a Dave.
