“Dentists Scream Bloody Murder”

Here’s a cool little marketing story for you . .

“Dentists Scream Bloody Murder” was the headline to a space ad that
sold 700 $10 orders of a report on how to get free dental care.

That was back in the 70s when $10 was a lot of money.

It was from an interview I did with a space ad expert names Mike
Somonic.

The readership of that publication were heavy into conspiracy
theories and things like that.

The subhead was dentists are mad because you can now get free
dental care.

Mike told me he was never able to duplicate the success of this
ad again.

He said sometimes when you are trying to make things happen, you
just get lucky.

He said that as long as you keep going and don’t quit, that luck
happens in the most uncommon ways.

Rodney Burge out of Chicago knows about this.

He’s a retired dentist and now an HMA Marketing Consultant.

And Rodney told me a story about how a letter he mailed to a
printer has made him the luckiest marketing consultant in the state
of Illinois
