Fat-Boy 550 . . .

I’m really trying to teach my boys about buying and selling.

And one thing we do is stop off at garage sales in and around the neighborhood.

The boys already know that you make your money when you buy.

They can now ask for a price they want and not feel bad about negotiating for one even lower.

“Not too low”, I tell them.

They watch me sell the stuff we buy on Craig’s list all the time.

One Friday, me and my two boys were at a garage sale on Clairmont Drive looking for stuff to buy.

The home owner was named Mike.

Mike’s a professional garage sale seller.

He claims to have done over 2000 garage sales.

He helps hoarders clean out their homes and sell their stuff.

Mike had a ton of stuff to sell that Friday.

My boys were loving it.

They kept running up to me tugging on my shirt saying . .

Dad, can we get this?

No

Can we buy this?

No.

Can I take this home . . .?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Dad?

No.

And then I look to my left and see Joe, my older son, pushing a yellow plastic contraption around like a lawn mower.

“Get away from the street”, I say.

It looked just like a street sweeper.

You push it just like a lawn mower but it’s got no gas or electric to it.

It’s got these two rotating brushes hooked up under it.

And as you push it and then the round brushes spin towards each other.

And as you go along, it sweep up all the stuff on the ground.

I have never seen anything like it.

I thought about how this thing can save me a lot of time.

I could sweep up around my house really fast with this thing.

Maybe I should take a closer look.

I looked at it.

I pushed it.

And I discovered it was MADE IN GERMANY.

And everyone knows the Germans make good stuff.

And it had two US patents on it.

It’s called the Clean-boy 550.

My boys when they see me pushing it, call me the Fat-boy 550

And no . .

This is NOT a joke.

So I say to Mike ( The garage sale pro ). . .

Mike, how much you want for this Clean-boy 550 thingamabob?

$10, Mike says.

I’ll give you $7, I say.

He says . . . ok.

So now here’s what I do.

I take this Clean-boy 550 and really put it to the test.

But first, I got to get it home.

So I load it into my car’s trunk and rush homeward.

I honk my horn and yell out to the wife.

Lookey here what we got at the garage sale honey.

It’s a Clean-boy 550.

And it was only $7!

I saved a ton on money.

I want to prove to the wife I made a good decision so I get to working.

I push my new Clean-boy 550 and sweep up the side walk in the FRONT of the house.

I push my new Clean-boy 550 and sweep up the side walk on the SIDE of the house.

( We’ve got a corner lot)

I sweep up the bird poo on the back deck.

I sweep up the leaves from the neighbor’s tree too.

I sweep up the loose gravel on the pavers under the blue and green
awnings.

And I sweep up a big pile of leaves on the side curb of our street.

Just like the real street sweepers do!

While I was pushing my Clean-boy, two neighbors came up to me to ask me what I was doing?

They wanted to know what it was and where I got it.

And I told them.

And if you’re tired of sweeping up stuff the old way around your home, you should think about getting one.

But get your own because I won’t sell you mine.
