I was busted by police today

My heart is still beating fast as I write this. 

At 9:22am on May 14th Thursday morning I was pulled over by Police.

I had just taken my kids to school, and on my way home, I was at a
red light playing with my Blackberry phone.

I had just downloaded a program that lets me look at all the cool
Blackberry phone applications.

Luckily, the police didn’t see me holding my Blackberry.( I had it
in my lap but my hand was on it )

But as I looked up in my rear view mirror, I thought to myself I
could have a problem here with my break light and blinker. 

My back left driver side blinker and tail light has been giving me
a hard time. 

Sometimes when I step on the brake light, it would not go on and I
would have to wiggle the turn signal to get it to work. 

I’ve have not had a mechanic look at this because I know it’s an
electrical problem and I don’t want to spend the money on it.

I thought to myself this fine San Diego police officer is going to
see my bad break light and he is going to pull me over. 

I saw it happening in my mind before it even happened.

And sure enough, the light turns green, and I take a left. 

The police car is right behind me and on go the red and blue
flashing lights and siren too.

I knew exactly what it was about. 

My heart started beating even faster. 

I pulled over and stopped the car. 

I rolled down the window as I watched not one but two police
approach my car.

He must have been training a new guy.

I fumble for my wallet and pull out my driver’s license.

He asks for my driver’s license, my car registration and my proof
of insurance. 

All kinds of stuff is falling on to the floor as I search in my
glove compartment.

I told him I needed help and showed him a bunch of photo copies I
had and asked him if this was it.

He said yes and he told me about my blinker. 

I told him I knew there was a problem with it and I can’t
figure out the problem but will take care of it asap.

My voice was trembling because I had adrenaline going through my
body. 

I gave him the proof of insurance, and he went back to his car to
check my license. 

He verified the registration of my car and came back and told me I
should get it fixed and that was it. 

This incident reminds me how gut feeling can tell you want is going
to happen in many situations.

But it’s other people and outside influences that can get in the
way of this gift we all have.

I knew that I was going to get pulled over and I did.
