The Sauce Is the Boss . .
My wife like anyone, loves a good deal.
And that’s why she sometimes shops at Big Lots.
Big Lots is a retail chain that sells closeouts and refurbished
merchandise.
And just the other day, she came home with five bottles of a BBQ
sauce called Sweet Baby Ray’s.
It all began back in 1985 when a Chicago boy named Chef Larry
perfected his family’s recipe for a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and
entered it into the country’s largest rib cook-off.
On the day of the rib-off, Sweet Baby Ray’s beat nearly 700
entrants to come in second – an amazing feat for an unknown.
And MAN O MAN… This stuff is goooooooooood.

Last year HMA Consultant Paul Flood just sent me HIS family
barbecue sauce recipe. He claims this sauce is as good or better.
And I wanted to share it with you now.

Hi Michael:
I was at the HMA product creation audios and read you’re a fan of
barbecue and I wanted to share my family recipe barbecue
sauce with you.
This is best on barbecue chicken and pork chops.
My friends and family consider me a gourmet cook and this is still
one of my favorites.
I’ve actually been making it and cooking barbecued chicken this way
since I was 6 years old.
OK, here’s the Recipe.
½ cup sugar
1 cup water
½ cup brown sugar
2 T prepared yellow mustard
1 tsp pepper
3 tsp salt
½ lemon
1 sliced medium onion
4 T apple cider vinegar
1 Stalk celery
½ cup butter
1 cup tomato catsup
4 T sauce
Combine all ingredients except catsup and Worcestershire
sauce,simmer 20 minutes
Add catsup and Worcestershire sauce, bring to boil and remove from
heat.
Baste meat on grill with sauce every 10 – 15 minutes.
Be sure not to grill at too high a temperature or sugars in sauce
will burn.
Remove meat from grill and do final basting of meat.
If you’d like to kick it up a notch, top your meat with a
sprinkling of Tabasco Sauce.
And, here is your bonus recipe for habanero lime butter.
You will never find something better to butter up your corn on the
cob.
This recipe is from the Sonoran Grill by Mad Coyote Joe
½ cup sweet butter
1 habanero pepper minced
(if you’ve never worked with habanero peppers, be careful!)
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp salt
½ tsp dark brown sugar
Pinch of fresh black pepper
Whip all ingredients together in a blender or food processor, roll
into a log in waxed paper and chill. Best with corn on the cob but
also good with other fresh vegetables.

Hi Michael,
Holy crap that went well.
I walked him through most of the HMA Opportunity Analisis and I had
a lot of ammo about his website.
His store front is not growing but his online sales are up 30%.
Long story short – he is pumped and I am too.
His franchise network is unique in that they don’t have any rules
about where they can sell or what services they can use, etc.
It’s all opt-in and wide open.
He is sold on me doing a bunch of different projects for his
business starting Monday May 11th.
The corporate office is meeting in a week to pick a new SEO vendor
and he is on the board.
He said that if I wanted it he would pretty much guarantee I would
get the contract.
And he gave me the proposal the other company submitted.
It’s the only one they have and the bid is for $10K setup and $4K a
month with a year contract.
If all goes well, this one client could be worth $58,000.
He even showed me the Ad Budgets and P&L to prove they have a ton of
money available.
And he is on the board for helping the other 500 local franchises
who pitch into their monthly ad budget.
So if he tells a local franchise to use me for my services they
will pretty much follow his lead.
I told him I could give him a piece of the action and he was
jumping up and down he was so excited.
Can you believe that?
Dumb question. I know you can believe that.

I was busted by police today
My heart is still beating fast as I write this.
At 9:22am on May 14th Thursday morning I was pulled over by Police.
I had just taken my kids to school, and on my way home, I was at a
red light playing with my Blackberry phone.
I had just downloaded a program that lets me look at all the cool
Blackberry phone applications.
Luckily, the police didn’t see me holding my Blackberry.( I had it
in my lap but my hand was on it )
But as I looked up in my rear view mirror, I thought to myself I
could have a problem here with my break light and blinker.
My back left driver side blinker and tail light has been giving me
a hard time.
Sometimes when I step on the brake light, it would not go on and I
would have to wiggle the turn signal to get it to work.
I’ve have not had a mechanic look at this because I know it’s an
electrical problem and I don’t want to spend the money on it.
I thought to myself this fine San Diego police officer is going to
see my bad break light and he is going to pull me over.
I saw it happening in my mind before it even happened.
And sure enough, the light turns green, and I take a left.
The police car is right behind me and on go the red and blue
flashing lights and siren too.
I knew exactly what it was about.
My heart started beating even faster.
I pulled over and stopped the car.
I rolled down the window as I watched not one but two police
approach my car.
He must have been training a new guy.
I fumble for my wallet and pull out my driver’s license.
He asks for my driver’s license, my car registration and my proof
of insurance.
All kinds of stuff is falling on to the floor as I search in my
glove compartment.
I told him I needed help and showed him a bunch of photo copies I
had and asked him if this was it.
He said yes and he told me about my blinker.
I told him I knew there was a problem with it and I can’t
figure out the problem but will take care of it asap.
My voice was trembling because I had adrenaline going through my
body.
I gave him the proof of insurance, and he went back to his car to
check my license.
He verified the registration of my car and came back and told me I
should get it fixed and that was it.
This incident reminds me how gut feeling can tell you want is going
to happen in many situations.
But it’s other people and outside influences that can get in the
way of this gift we all have.
I knew that I was going to get pulled over and I did.
