Before my two boys go to sleep we do something fun.
And lately, we’ve been doing this new game called “Make Me Laugh.”
The kids call it MML for short.
Make me laugh is real easy to play.
And if you have kids, do this with them tonight.
You tell your kids, or your partner, wife or hubby, that you’re
going to make them laugh.
You can’t physically touch or tickle the other person.
You can only use your words.
This is not always easy, especially if your kids are tired or in a
bad mood.
And it’s even harder if you’re not feeling funny.
But after playing MML for months, I’ve found some simple words to
get my two boys laughing.
And it’s using simple letters in this way.
You want to make exaggerated sounds with single letters.
And if you have boys, the closer it has to do with bodily
functions, the better it works.
( Why is that ? )

Or, you can combine all three.

Next, if that doesn’t work, go with . . .
The stupid word combination technique.
All you do is say words that are totally random and have nothing to
do with anything.
Haaa?
Here’s some of the words that have worked on my boys.

Booger
( Booger may not work on girls )
Exaggerate the word and it’s transformed into
Booooooooooooogeeeeer
Now that’s funny.

Dumb stuff is fun.
Come on now.

Pimple Glasses.
That’s right.
I kid you not.
Pimple Glasses has gotten my son Joseph busting out laughing for
five nights straight.
Yea . .
It’ll wear off but there will always be more words that work.

Old Blue Swing . . .
Blueberry Jam.

And now, for my last blue story of the week.
Old Blue Swing .
Dinner at the mother-in-law’s.
Oh boy.
On the way, I passed a home that had put out on the side of the
road an old blue swing.
Taped to the front of the swing was a sign that read ..
Take Me, I’m Free.
I slowed the car.
Rolled down my window.
And assessed the swing’s condition.
I dropped my wife and kids off at Moms.
And drove back to the house to take a closer look.
I parked.
Popped the trunk.
And walked towards the swing to check it out.
The swing was in real bad condition.
The paint was chipping off.
It was loose.
Wobbly.
Unstable.
The screws were rusted.
Part of the back support was broken.
Nevertheless, I lifted the swing and tried to fit it into the trunk
of my car.
It almost went in, but not quite.
Then, I tried to slide it onto the back seat.
I got it in, but the door would not shut.
“Oh well”.
I was hungry and I did NOT want to be bothered.
I left it on the side of the road and went back to Moms to join
my wife and kids.
I told my wife I was not able to fit the swing into the trunk or
the back seat.
My wife really wanted that swing.
My wife started talking about the swing at dinner.
We came home and she was still talking about the blue swing.
She was thinking about that old blue swing when we went to bed.
And she was thinking about the blue swing when she woke up
on Saturday morning.
And she want back to the house and brought back the old blue swing.
She then asked me if I could help fix it for her.
I didn’t want to fix the swing.
I’d rather just buy a new swing.
I’d rather pay someone to fix it for me.
I said.. “honey..
it’s old, it’s unstable, it’s not safe!
I said . . .
“It’s broken and it can’t be fixed.”
But she would have none of that.
And reluctantly, I started to fix that old blue swing.
I first made a list.
Then, I went to the Home Depot.
I got a few parts.
I got some wood screws.
I got my drill ready.
I got a paint scraper.
I got two cans of brown spray paint.
And I came home and started to work on that old blue swing.
First, I scraped as much paint off as I could.
Then I took a wire brush and brushed the remaining dust off.
Then I drilled some holes and inserted some stabilizing screws.
I got my wrench and a socket set out.
Then tightened up the loose rusty bolts.
I cut a piece of wood and nailed it to support the broken frame.
And before you knew it, that swing was looking goooood.
Then I laid down a big drop cloth on the ground
And I painted that blue swing hickory brown in color.
Top to bottom.
Side to side.
Over and under.
And that old blue rusty swing was starting to transform into a
respectable brown porch swing any home would be proud to own.
I already had the perfect place to hang it.
I visualized sitting in the swing with my kids and wife.
And when the paint was dry and the swing was hung, I sat on it and
reflected about how this old blue swing is a lot like an old worn
out business.
Transforming this swing to like new condition is no different then
transforming a business.
All the pieces of the swing were there.
It just needed some attention.
A plan.
Some fixing.
And there are businesses all over the world like this old blue
swing waiting to be transformed.
And there is no better way to help businesses that are old, rusty

I did not want to be bothered.

The Blue Grill That Started It All . . .
I get this a lot . . .
“Michael, how did you get started with hardtofindseminars.com?”
It all started with a Blue Grill.
12 years ago, I had bought a $15,000 Jay Abraham seminar from a lady in San Diego for $50
I studied the seminar and the tapes were sitting on my shelf for about a
year.
I was newly engaged.
I soon married.
And I moved into a home with my wife.
We had spent a lot of money fixing up the house.
And I desperately wanted this special blue barbecue grill.
It was called a Kamado.
It looks like a big blue genie bottle
And so , I wanted this thing.
I wanted it baaaad.
But it cost $1700.
Now, my wife is a practical woman.
She wasn’t thrilled about the idea of me spending $1700 on a grill.
So, I said fiiiiiiiine.
And I gave her look.
And a face.
And a sound under my breath.
I told her . .
“These are MY Jay Abraham tapes.
And I’m going to sell them on Ebay.”
I loved the idea of selling stuff online from home.
But I had problems.
I was not computer savvy.
I didn’t know how to upload a picture.
I didn’t know what HTML was.
I didn’t have a digital camera.
But I did it anyway.
I got a digital camera.
I learned how to load a picture on eBay.
And I listed my Jay Abraham tapes for sale.
Just like I said I would.
Move aside woman.
I’m gonna get that Blue Grill.
And there ain’t noting you or anybody can do bout it.
The auction counted down.
The bids crawled up.

The auction ended and I sold my set of Jay Abraham tapes for $1700
And I got my Blue Barbecue Grill.
Just like I said I would.
