You’ll hear all kinds of cool e-mail headlines when you listen for
them.

Take this one, for example . . .
“You Little Dweeb.”
This one, I heard from my 10 year old son when I told him I was
going to have Barney, the purple dinosaur show up at his birthday
party.
And Alan, my 8 year old son, came up with this doozy while in the
bathroom.
He said .. “Dad . . . I Poo Fast.”
And so, I ran to write this headline down too.
Two headline and story ideas in one day just by having my headline
antenna turned on.
And . . . I wasn’t even trying.
And maybe that’s the point.
If you keep your ears open for great headlines and stories, you’ll
hear great headline and stories . . .
. . . . ALL THE TIME!
And if you capture them in writing, you’ll own them forever to use
as attention grabbers for your next e-mail promotion.
But don’t forget to write them down the second you hear them or
you may loose them and that one great idea may never return to your
memory.
And here’s another interesting thing I’ve noticed about my story
and headline creation efforts.
Recently, I had stopped looking for headlines and story ideas.
My antenna was switched off for 21 days.
And when I turned it back on, I could not believe how fast and
intense the headline and story ideas started rushing back into my
mind.
There was an avalanche of ideas and stories.
My antenna was now more receptive than ever.
And more powerful.
I’ve heard alcoholics, sex addicts or food addicts experience
something like this during relapse.
This “headline relapse” is the same kind of thing, but it’s a good
thing.

This morning I went to go pick up a free trampoline down the street

sitting in one of the planters.
I asked Judy if she would sell it for two dollars.

Don’t Get Screwed Again . . .
In 2004, I had entered into a verbal joint venture agreement.
I had an agreement that if I promoted and generated sales for a marketing consulting training, that I’d be paid 50% in commissions.
These seminars were selling from $5,000 to $15,000 per seat.
Most of the people at the early seminars were directly from my lead generating efforts.
And for my marketing efforts, I did pretty good.
I remember once picking up a check for $17,500.00
I was at the airport on the way home to San Diego thinking about what a great little joint venture deal I had going.
And I looked forward to more of these large checks.
Until . .
I discovered I was getting screwed.
Some of the attendees at the seminar came from my marketing efforts but I was not getting paid on them.
This cost me thousands in unpaid commissions.
When I confronted my Joint Venture partner, he refused to pay.
He lied, made excuses, even when I confronted him with proof.
This resulted in a legal challenge that was costly and time consuming.
The lawsuit was later dropped by the courts.
I lost a good ongoing relationship because I failed to protect myself properly.
And it was all my fault.
So before I was going to do any more joint ventures, I had to come up with a way to promote online so I would not get screwed again.
