Paint It Brown . . .

For years, I’ve been bitching at my wife to dump the old furniture
we have in the kid’s rooms.

The same furniture she’s had as a child growing up in South Africa.

It’s been painted every color of the rainbow and beyond the sun.

I mean, come on . . . honey . . .

“Let’s buy some NEW furniture for the kids this year”, I said.

She objected.

So you know what I did?

I spray-painted it brown.

I started off with an old ugly mirror.

Then, a three drawer dresser with silver pulls.

Next, I painted a hat rack, a six drawer dresser, two end tables,
and a green study desk.

But that’s not all . . .

Instead of trashing the baby picnic table we had made, I painted it brown.

Instead of tossing two outside benches, I painted them brown.

Trash the grey sun beaten outside family table you say?

The same one that’s witnessed thanksgiving feasts, birthday
parties and gatherings.
 
I painted it brown too.

In all, I made 16 items new again with cans of $3 spray-paint.

And you can do this same.

PS. Next time, you think you need a bigger home, you just need an
bigger closet. Think it’s time to replace the carpet, you just need
to have them cleaned. Think you need a new job, you may just need a
new attitude.

No matter what it is in your home or in your life, you CAN make it
new again if you just paint it brown.
