The Pistol Shrimp . . .

This finger-size shrimp with an oversize claw–resembling a boxing
glove uses it to stun its prey by snapping the claw shut.

First, its claw is cocked like a pistol.

Then fired.

The snapping produces a sharp cracking sound.

And the effect is literally stunning.

As the claw snaps shut it fires a blast of imploding bubbles.

Incredibly, as the bubbles collapse, they momentarily reach the
temperature of at least 25,000 degrees Fahrenheit, more than twice
as hot as the surface of the sun.

And all this reminds me of a quote from Ronald Reagan.

He said…”When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel
the heat.”
